I love the change of seasons. It feels like a fresh start. Doesn’t matter if it’s spring to summer, fall to winter, summer to fall, things feel fresh to me when the seasons change. This year the coming of spring feels especially great. I feel like I’m coming awake after hibernation.

I’m celebrating by developing some new choreographies. I pretty much always do a new one for my continuing burlesque and bellydance classes, but I’m a bit tired of teaching my two standard beginner burly choreos, so I’m putting together a new one to Harry Connick Jr.’s version of “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile”. The advanced class is doing “Pet Me Poppa” from Guys and Dolls – I’m very excited about both! The Smile girls will be dapper with fedoras and ties, and the Pet Me Poppas are going to be kittycats and that’s all I’ll say about that. Don’t want to spoil the surprise before the June show!

I’ve got some new classes coming up – technique for bellydancers, solo development, and boylesque. As far as I know I’m the only instructor offering burlesque for men. I think I have about six guys interested so far. I’m super excited. Haven’t picked a choreography song yet… a few ideas but nothing concrete. I hope some of them will want to perform because it would be great to have men in the next show.

Our Burlesque club also has a new logo. I drew it 🙂
